The installation of any software represents the initial step in its use. The new QiTASC installer comes with a new design and features, which ensures that any tester can use the intaQt^® test automation software tools: setting them up and configuring them poses no difficulty whatever.

The installer is a central software program that is used to install QiTASC software tools on a computer. It contains all the files and information needed to install and configure one or many QiTASC software products.

Of course, the process of installation does not need an installer. It is possible to manually copy files and configure settings on your computer in order to use the software. But installation using the QiTASC installer is simplified because the numerous steps involved in setting up the many software tools are automated. Furthermore, doing it the manual way you risk missing out on the wealth of advantages provided by the many features of the new installer. For instance, updating a product manually is a complicated process which is simplified by using the installer.

Specialities of the new installer

Apart from the initial setup and configuration of the software, the installer also performs other tasks such as updating all of the intaQt^® tools, uninstalling them, or configuring their settings.

Firstly, the new UI has two colour schemes to choose from – a light and dark mode. This is done to adapt to different user preferences. The selected mode is saved in a configuration file and will be used further on. The next time the user starts their program, it will already be displayed in the corresponding design.

Secondly, the user can set special configurations for launching a product. Again, the selected settings will be saved. With the new installer, this can easily be done directly in the UI as well. If commands are not visualized in the dialogue, users have the possibility to enter additional options as free text.

The installer can update itself via the options menu on the start screen. If an update is available, it will be indicated by an icon. In this menu, you can also change the installation directory. This will be saved in the configuration and all products will be installed there in the future.

Furthermore, you can choose to use releases only or snapshots as well. The available installations and updates will change according to this selection.

The new QiTASC installer offers the possibility to open log files in new windows which can be followed in real time. This way, a clear arrangement ensures a user-friendly interface.

Another aspect is the implementation of any of the software tools in offline mode. This gives bigger companies the possibility to use the installer in an isolated environment. Installing or updating offline is supported by provision of a ZIP file.

Last but not least, the new installer allows users to update the intaQt^® framework.

After downloading, the installer is ready to be used. The user can choose from the list of software tools they are interested in and the software will then be installed accordingly. As the list of software products is constantly evolving, the integrated updating function for all products is important. If the user one day decides to uninstall any software, the installer will support them here too.
